you know about their book reviews.
Not exact matches
One thing you can be sure
about, however, is that if you start receiving negative feedback and ratings from your guests, it'll become harder for you as a host to generate
bookings, as guests who are savvy using the Airbnb service will
know to seek out accommodations that have received better
reviews and ratings from past guests.
I didn't
know much
about Tony Robbins, the self - help guru, when I was asked to
review his new
book on personal finance.
For example, if you
know someone who loves to read, send an article or
book review about his or her favorite author.
Others may feel like the schoolgirl who was assigned to write a
review of a
book on penguins, and did it in one sentence: «This
book tells me more
about penguins than I really wanted to
know.»
Having never read the
book or seen the HBO show, but figuring
reviews and trailers gave me all I needed to
know, I pontificated, «Game of Thrones is popular only because it's
about sex and violence.»

What's really hard
about this is that we all
know just how hard it is to get reader
reviews for a
book.
The Guardian's analysis focused on the
reviewing of
books for adults but, as a children's author interested in gender bias, I was curious to
know about the gender balance of UK children's
book reviewing.
Although that approach violates most of what they taught us in media classes, way back when, paid
book reviews have become mainstream, if not exactly something
about which authors (the one in the
know, anyway) would boast.
I
know when I
review books if I didn't like things
about it and found too many negatives, I just won't
review.
No doubt My Life in
Books will be eagerly anticipated; Conroy is a favorite of BookPage readers — South of Broad was our cover story in August (read a
review of this «lush, remarkable new novel»), and we interviewed him in 2002
about My Losing Season.
Remember you're writing this
review for a new reader, not someone who already
knows about the
book.
If they choose to look only at «large publisher»
books, it's because they've bought (or are required by their publishers to follow) the «
books by other publishers are
no good» line, even when a commentator whose
review is right there on view on a
book's cover obviously
knows more
about literature than half the editorial staff (even good ones) at most large publishing houses.
You have to let bloggers
know about your
book and ASK for a
review or mention.
And for self - publishing authors, if you still need persuading, look
no further than
book reviews on sites like Amazon and Goodreads, where one of the top complaints
about self - published
books is the lack of professional editing.
In fact, it's not even well -
known in the author community that paid
book reviews exist, and even less is
known about the value of such
reviews.
The first are solo
reviews where each
review is
about a single
book, usually a major title by an already -
known author or expert.
The advantage is — you
know the bloggers who are listed there have specifically entered their blogs because they are open to receiving
books for
reviews — so you don't have to worry
about bothering them.
I pre selected all the
books I
reviewed from the
reviews they got from Amazon and tried picking well received self published fantasy novels that no one
knew about yet.
You don't
know but either way whether everything in a
review is accurate or not, it's what that person felt
about your
book and like it or not you can't change or influence that.
No, everything below the line, e.g.
book title and author name, is correct — only the
review above it is
about the Coben
book.
If these ideas can be met and done well,
no matter whether an author has a budget of $ 200 or $ 2,000, a
book trailer can be successful, i.e. move a viewer to get excited
about the
book, share the trailer with friends, write an on - line
review of your
book.
I still am emailed
about taking
books to
review although I'm not a
book blog and don't accept requests so I
know how frustrating that can be.
Instead hook their attention, use social proof with a nice
review, tell them what the
book is
about (alien cowboy shoot - em - up, New Zealand wartime Romance, etc.) Make sure they
know what to expect before they click.
Whether you're in awe of an author's writing capabilities, his / her ability to self - promote, or the sheer range of outlets that have
reviewed his / her work, by better understanding success stories in your genre, you have the opportunity to then identify the media outlets that have
reviewed and shared information
about these
books and authors — outlets that you
know are receptive to works in your genre.
If you can understand
about book review format, it is going to be very easy to
know about how to write your paper.
The author page is where you don't have to worry
about post frequency or too much promotion: the people that like your author page like it because they want to
know everything
about your
book, from readings and events to
reviews.
I never
knew reviews were so important until I was «dragged» onto Facebook and found many friends who feel like I do
about books.

Not only do you have to read what a
book reviewer wrote
about a
book you're interested in reading, in order to
know who the reviewer is you have to read other
reviews they wrote
about books you may have no interest in at all.
And once the
book was live on Amazon, I sent another email to each of them saying «hey, I don't
know if you've had the chance to read the
book, but if so, I would love an honest
review from you and it'd be amazing if you could help me spread the word
about the launch.»
