Hello Richard Do
you know about epigenetics / the epigenome?
I have a biology degree and I'm not going to walk around like
I know all about epigenetics.
I knew about epigenetics but didn't about the methylation bit and how it can affect it, before I read what your wrote.

We've
known about the evidence of
epigenetics in nature for quite some time.
New technology and an emerging emphasis on neuroscience and
epigenetics have awakened an interest in
knowing more
about human development.
Even if researchers can pick the signals from the noise, they will then have to work out what the
epigenetic changes do, and whether they are in fact adaptive — a tall order given how little we
know about interpreting
epigenetic signals even in modern DNA.
«But
epigenetics wasn't a topic I
knew very much
about.»
«We
knew that Smchd1 was an
epigenetic suppressor — a factor that switches off genes that are unnecessary for that particular cells» function — but we were in the dark
about where and how it was acting on the DNA.»
Nutrient stress and social stress act via the innate immune system and cause the suppression of the immune system that links the proliferation of viruses to transgenerational
epigenetic inheritance via everything currently
known about microRNAs and adhesion proteins.
We now
know that there are probably
about a thousand proteins that are involved in
epigenetic regulations.
Even less is
known about our unique
epigenetic makeup, but it is exactly such
epigenetic changes that may have shaped our own species.
This week's features include: a clinic that doesn't
know the difference between
epigenetics and genetics; lessons
about aging from Dolly the sheep; and does
epigenetics interfere with gene editing?
Let's hope they do that because even if someone doesn't
know about this, the idea that you can have a healthier, smarter baby, and even healthier and smarter grandkids by doing a few things now, you don't necessarily have to fully grasp, or even want to grasp the concept of
epigenetic.
Epigenetics gives us a new - found freedom from our parents, but we can
no longer blame our parents for everything we do not like
about ourselves... sorry to disappoint you.
I wish I
knew more
about epigenetic gene expression than I do at this point.
