It is hardly necessary to state here what process thought has to say; and, in any event, I can refer those who do not
know about it to a recent small
book of my own, entitled Process Thought and Christian Faith (Macmillan,
New York, and Nisbet, London, 1968), in which I attempted to give a brief sketch of that conceptuality with special reference to its availability for the enterprise of Christian re-conception.
We're still a few weeks away from the release of my
new book, Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again, but today I wanted to let you

You may ask me how I came to this
new insight, for truly I had never opened a
book of religion nor even read a single page of the Bible, and the dogma of original sin is either entirely denied or forgotten by the Hebrews of to - day, so that I had thought so little

about my
book «Religious Literacy» (Americans are very religious, but
know almost nothing
about their own religions), a bit
about my
newest project, «God is Not One» (no, religions are not different paths up the same mountain) and some humor thrown in here and there.
This is
new territory for me, doing a
book - length study of Jesus and the origins of Christianity, but I have read everything I could get my hands on, weighed all the scholarly debates, and hope my
book will be useful to the
book - reading public in explaining what we can really
know, historically,
about Jesus.
What makes the Bible such a great
book is that it shows the truth
about humanity, the evil that sin creates and the truth that the devil is a liar and as Jeremy has stated, has always laid the blame on GOD, but, myself being a fairly
new Christian,
know that we can not pull certain verses or stories from the Bible to try and understand what GOD is doing, (and I also
know that you and your readers
know this but I'm saying it anyway) it's history, HIS Story, and when taken as a whole we can see HIS plan laid out, from creation to the cross and then throughout eternity, GOD is good and gracious to ALL!!!! (2 Peter 3:8,9).
The problem, however, is that when we get to Jesus in the Gospels (and especially in the
Book of Revelation), we tend to import what we think we
know about God from the Old Testament into what the
New Testament tells us
about Jesus.
The Lord is not writing
new books of the bible these days, but just
about everyone I
know that has a close personal walk with Jesus is seeing visions these days.
The
books, the tapes, the T - shirts — suddenly it all makes sense, and I'm breathing a lot easier
about this conference,
no longer afraid I'm in danger of getting sucked into some strange
new cult.
