The Buzz: Were it not for the fact that this is being adapted from a graphic novel
by Neil Gaiman, we'd be extremely suspicious, dazzling
trailer or no — but we trust Gaiman, and this looks like it has just the right blend of action, fantasy hooey, and
knowing comedy to make it work.
On a day
known for it's superstitions and inherent spookiness levels, those of us more excited about an excuse to watch horror films tonight than rom - coms tomorrow will be extra thrilled
by this new
trailer.
Into the Woods, directed
by Rob Marshall (Chicago) is a musical based on the stage work from Stephen Sondheim, but you wouldn't have
known that from the film's first
trailer.
In the opening scenes we learn Chris (Sean Bean) and Sharon (Adelaide Clemens) Da Silva have been on the run for the last 6 years (side note: the names Harry and Heather Mason are not spoken in this
trailer but we do
know that they will go
by these fake names in the movie).
I was expecting more from this film (after watching the engaging
trailer, and
knowing the screenplay is
by Nick Hornby), so I got a little disappointed... It is a very decent film, the acting is flawless (Saoirse Ronan can definitely carry a film), the colours, the sets and locations, the costumes are all beautiful and the story does grab your attention... and then it ends: when it seemed the real drama would happen.
The themes of the Captain America 2, previously described as a «political thriller»
by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, are very evident in the teaser
trailer and fans — much like the characters on screen — don't
know who to trust.
The
trailer really highlights the sweet and charming performance
by the young Tilston, which will
no doubt capture the hearts of many when the movie is released.
Warning: As you may have guessed
by its stealth production (no one really
knew it existed before a
trailer dropped), the less you
know about Dan Trachtenberg's «10 Cloverfield Lane,» the better.
