know some Deists that do not agree with what that website you reference says.
Jefferson, Washington and Franklin were well
know deists NOT Christians as we Americans would like to think.

But I reached a point where I could
no longer believe in the christian god and became a
deist.
All of the atheists I
know are very successful people in both lives, loves and careers whilst most of the
deists I
know are divorced, unhappy with their families and jobs.
The only person who could possibly
know whether Thomas Jefferson is a
Deist, atheist, Christian, Agnostic, etc, is Thomas Jefferson himself.
I have that same situation, except I'm a
Deist (someone who believes in A god, but doesn't
know which one).

deist, agnostic, atheist, believer in a god figure, yes a god but not one that interferes with the lives of humans, don't really
know if there is a god, there is no evidence of god therefore there is no god.
The orderer is
no longer the deus ex machina of the
deists, which Darwin rightly rejected.
It is well
known that most of the Founding Fathers were Christians, and the rest were
Deists, but that Religion had little role in the politics behind the Revolution.
I do
know some were
Deist (such as Ben) Many others though were Masons but definitely didn't take it that seriously compared to there belief in Christ.
As a
deist I can accept a creator, whether a god or natural phenomenon, I do not
know.
At least this is what they publicly admitted to, it could very well be that they were atheist in a time that would not accept this declaration, and so historically they are
known as
Deists.
