The aim of our study was not only to improve
the knowledge about breastfeeding but mainly to support the fathers to recognize and accept their relevant role in the success of breastfeeding, to improve their capacity of empowering the self - confidence of the mother, and to support and encourage her to go on with breastfeeding, mainly when problems with lactation occur and can represent risk factors for breastfeeding interruption.
I believe there's a serious gap in awareness and
knowledge about breastfeeding, and so many mothers — Especially in the minority community — don't know what they're missing.

Findings from studies in developed and developing countries have shown that pregnant women harnessed with better
knowledge about breastfeeding are more likely to offer breastfeeding, and to follow breastfeeding recommendations afterwards [10].
As far as
knowledge about breastfeeding is concerned (Table 2), the analysis of our results shows that 96.4 % know they should not wait for the production of milk, and more than 2/3 of our participants know it is necessary to breastfeed in the delivery room.

Breastfeeding with HIV, is breast still best?
I am the Director of Marketing for the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA), and I also host a podcast, called Mocha Milkies Cafe, to help bring
knowledge and awareness
about breastfeeding and positive birth practices to African America women in my spare time.
It is an argument which deflects attention from the lack of
knowledge and understanding of most health professionals
about breastfeeding.
I don't believe the emotions felt by mothers who don't
breastfeed or who wean early are as simple as «guilt»: when we really examine mothers» feelings
about things gone wrong, it is rarely guilt that they are expressing, especially
about not
breastfeeding or not
breastfeeding as long or as completely as they would have liked to: well informed mothers who reach for the bottle after a struggle with
breastfeeding know they have done the best they could with the resources they had at the time (health, energy,
knowledge, support)-- these mothers may feel deeply sad and disappointed, they may be grieving, but guilt isn't an appropriate label for these overwhelming feelings of loss for themselves and their babies.
I've never met a health professional who did not already think they were great
breastfeeding supporters and possessed the entire world's storehouse of
knowledge about it to boot.
In addition to the
knowledge that I am providing him with food to help him flourish, there are so many things I love
about breastfeeding my son: his little body curled up on mine, his hands touching my face, our shared contentment.
