Little did I
know that I could have given the formula to her myself actually from my breast and avoided a bottle all together had anyone at the hospital told me
about something called a Supplemental Nursing System (SNS) or
lactation aid.
Despite attending La Leche League meetings while pregnant and reading books
about breastfeeding I didn't
know that
lactation consultants did weighed feeds or that if my child was diagnosed with failure to thrive it was time to see one.

know the rounds, you
know, what's going to happen, you
know, how long you're going to be there, all that stuff.
But then you learn
about all these new things once you see a
lactation consultant and things I never even
knew existed.
I wish expecting and adoptive parents
knew more
about the possibilities of
lactation.
When you are choosing a
lactation professional, check with your insurance company and the individual
lactation consultant to find out what you need to
know about fees and the payment process.
I am not concerned because I
know about the different in the charts being used, and I do not see any signs of malnutrition or dehydration (I am studying to be a
lactation consultant and am also a dietetics major).
The AAP recommendations, and just
about everything else that is
known about drugs and breastfeeding, is included in the Drugs and

Lactation room issue, I
