kohlrabi in a bowl of spinach.
In fact, you can use
kohlrabi in place of radish in soups and salads.

I usually keep
kohlrabi in with the root veggies, because it has a more similar growth habit, even though botanically it's in the brassica family with cabbage and broccoli.
Garlic scapes came this week and we even got a bunch of
kohlrabi in the most recent share (not quite sure what we're going to do with all that kohlrabi...).
I discovered
kohlrabi in the past few months, when I started to explore Slovenian cooking and found recipes for
kohlrabi in some 1950s Slovenian American cookbooks.
Not exact matches
For instance, one might think that cabbage,
kohlrabi, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale and broccoli are different species but
in fact it is not so.
In this salad, the crunch of
kohlrabi, apple, and summer root veggies combines nicely with the creaminess of avocado and the sunny taste of citrus dressing.
I've also been on the lookout for purple
kohlrabi, which is amazing
in its colour, but no luck so far.
For those who have never tried it,
kohlrabi is a mild tasting crunchy vegetable, a sort of cross between a cabbage and turnip

kohlrabi to plant
