Moody's chief economist, who helps compile the data, noted that the US
labour market continues to power ahead, and job creation was strong across nearly all industries and company sizes,
adding «mounting
labour shortages are set to get much worse» in the months ahead.
He
added: «While firms complain about a
shortage of qualified physicists and engineers on the
labour market, a very large number of graduates in these fields work in the financial sector, where they only use their STEM skills to a very limited degree.
«While the reforms have led to public sector bodies
adding about 90,000 people to their payrolls in the three months to 30 June 2017, they have also resulted in
labour and skill
shortages, as a number of IT contractors, locum doctors and nurses now choose to work less or work only for the private sector.
Fold articling and bar admission courses into law school curricula +
add a 4th year to law school for specialization: (1) because the great
shortage of jobs compels more new lawyers to become sole practitioners earlier than they should have to, given the present law school course content and purpose; and, (2) because of the need to specialize earlier so as to increase the efficacy of their qualifications earlier; (3) articling jobs are now scarce, and increasing
shortages of clients is causing law firms to more frequently and thoroughly use articling law students as a source of cheap
labour.
