Character illustrations and unit battles make the game impressive but it's
lack of multiplayer mode at launch, hinders its full potential.
Not exact matches
It has very few shortcomings, most notably the repetitive music and
lack of modes, but
at $ 14.99 it gives a very fun, challenging,
multiplayer experience for Xbox One and PC players alike.
Mutliplayer integration —
At XBLA Fans we are more aware than most
of the issue that many
multiplayer modes face: a
lack of players after the first few weeks
of release.
I'm willing to overlook a the
lack of actual intelligence in the artificial intelligence since this is a co-op focused
multiplayer game to a degree, but if you're going to include a solo
mode then
at least ensure the player's partners can grab some
of the loot.
Now onto the Single player
mode or the «single player upgrade» if you've purchased the
multiplayer edition, this is basically the same as a private match in
multiplayer, you play one
of the
multiplayer selections against AI on top
of that you have survival
mode which was rather confusing, my idea
of the game was a normal FPS game with zombies implemented so you can't camp, when you're playing the survival
mode the full area has some sort
of gas which will kill you if you don't get out
of it, you get sent to different air pockets which open up in a set area per round, this meaning you have to camp in the air bubble and take on the hordes
of zombies approaching, I've played a few zombie fps games in my days and always wanted to move around, create a train and take them out, on top
of that ammo drops or weapon drops are in said bubbles and
lack in quality, I wasn't impressed with the survival
mode implementation and wouldn't advise any horde fans to even look
at it.
There is plenty
of content found in the story missions with each
of the five stories bringing 13 chapters to battle through
at your own pace, but Dynasty Warriors 9 fails to bring back any
of the classic
modes such as the Survival or Challenge
modes, and also
lacks any online or offline
multiplayer options whatsoever.
Some have praised the
lack of campaigns in shooters because they feel single - player
modes are mostly tacked on rail - shooters devoid
of the magic that makes the
multiplayer portion so unique (looking
at you, EA and DICE).
