but a t some point he lost it, and is not because of his stinginess to buy players, our core is good and has been for sometime now, his biggest problem was adaptation, change to the new EPL, his philosophy dating back 20 years does not work anymore and he knows it, because of this his biggest flaw all others came out to light, lack of rotation of his players favoring some over others, stubbornness that applies to his transfer policy buying for the future just as he had 20 more years ahead, players playing out of their natural positions, ARSENAL FLOPS who knows under other Managers they could have been great, for some reason they were signed in the first place, they must had some talent, best example is Campbell....

It's difficult to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied to by Wenger... there is no doubt in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately to recreate our earlier success by acquiring players that fit the system he ran when Henry was in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened... in order for Ozl to flourish he needs some speed up front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss in the midfield to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders who can transition from defence to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had in Real and with the German National squad... unfortunately he ended up on a squad that has a striker who plays with his back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one to take pressure off him in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him, which simply highlighted his lacking defensive qualities and defenders who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes to transitional passing... instead of blaming Ozil, which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary to get the best from him... can you imagine Ozil playing with the likes of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly to watch and even more difficult to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences in Real and with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the players around him and we all know who is in charge of making those decisions, the Grinch who stole soccer
Of course, losing wingers Robben and Ribery will have forced his hand slightly here, but it still shows a lack of a Plan B that Pep couldn't bring out a similar threat from other players like Gotze and Muller, who can both play wide, or indeed use Lahm in his preferred position of right - back and utilise his quality from there — in fact, the former Germany captain's use as a midfielder since this manager's arrival is one of many examples of his attempts at tactical innovation going wronOf course, losing wingers Robben and Ribery will have forced his hand slightly here, but it still shows a lack of a Plan B that Pep couldn't bring out a similar threat from other players like Gotze and Muller, who can both play wide, or indeed use Lahm in his preferred position of right - back and utilise his quality from there — in fact, the former Germany captain's use as a midfielder since this manager's arrival is one of many examples of his attempts at tactical innovation going wronof a Plan B that Pep couldn't bring out a similar threat from other players like Gotze and Muller, who can both play wide, or indeed use Lahm in his preferred position of right - back and utilise his quality from there — in fact, the former Germany captain's use as a midfielder since this manager's arrival is one of many examples of his attempts at tactical innovation going wronof right - back and utilise his quality from there — in fact, the former Germany captain's use as a midfielder since this manager's arrival is one of many examples of his attempts at tactical innovation going wronof many examples of his attempts at tactical innovation going wronof his attempts at tactical innovation going wrong.

I just can't believe that we have become a joke we always start the season well then have a bumpy December and by the time Feb comes our form has taken a dip and we get kicked out of all competitions except for that valuable top 4 that the board loves so much... ultimately if Arsenal want to compete again we need changes from the bottom up... Kroenke and his board need to go cause clearly for them profits matter more than trophies... I join you on that almostawinner... but the same can be said of that famous english core that we extended / signed a couple of years back... Ramsey is a great player, can be world class but for that has to stop being so wasteful at times (bad / heavy first touch, killing counter attacks with the wrong choices, not shooting well anymore the way it looks, giving the ball away)... your not on Gerrard level at his best Gibbs is a good player but seems happy with his bit part role, doesn't look like he's crazy about pushing & challenging Montreal for a XI spot Ox, I still believe in his talent but just no end product for an offensive player with his ability; he could be our version of PFA Hazard / Costa... is it a lack of confidence?
ramsey is one of the main reason why protection is lacking at ther back, good going forward and arriving late useless in position, stopping the passing lanes, or tracking the runner also he rarely disposesses an opposing player, used as cam he would do well as he got stamina to track back but as cm he is a liability like wilshire.
There was talk all summer of how players such as Mathieu Debuchy and David Ospina may be considering moves away due to a lack of playing time, however one infrequent starter for the Arsenal who did not seem to want a move, is left back Kieran Gibbs.
I just don't know why people think Ox has been useless for all these six seasons. The only season where he was real bad was 15/16 where Wenger stifled his progress.Apart from that season he's always been injury plagued causing him to have some bad performances. He's had many good matches but it was just injuries which slowed him down.I also advice people to stop using stats to judge him. We've had a lot of statiscally useless players who have been rated and are still being rated by Arsenal fans. All Ox lacks is finishing that's all.I don't even think he's improved like many people say.His dribbling and crossing was always good. His finishing has been lacking. He's still the same player I've always known three seasons back yet people are behaving like he's improved massively.
I'd have focused more on Torres (which I did), the lack of CB depth (I'd prefer to have two quality CBs to back up a 3 back rather than just one with one of the starters being a converted CDM), the lack of players who fit the outside mid role well in this formation (which, hey, maybe that's part of what you were referring to), and the fact that when you play more attackers higher up the pitch, it often requires a team to be able to implement a high pressuring defensive line (Dempsey and Bruin are not suited for that).
Deny it all you want but since Fabregas left Arsenal our frre flowing football has really declined. It feels like am the only one who thinks we lack real penetration and ideas in the final third of opponents. Also in 14/15 sesson I lost count of our misplaced passes and poor gameplay overall. We've been very very poor in our passing game for some seasons now.For a game like this to work you need players whonhold the ball very well and are possession efficient.Look at the Arsenal starting lineup and compare it to that of years back and you'll know what I mean.We have very few possession efficient players which is causing this problem. We don't have many players who can actually hold the ball and play the ball. That's what differentiates us from the top passing teams.
The Arseblog went one step better with their creative prank, by claiming that the club had already installed a sound system which has been recording our singing and chanting at the Emirates Stadium, which will then be used to boost the atmosphere at home games, following an increased lack of backing of our players from the sidelines.

We may get angry and frustrated with individual players at times but taking a step back I think we have to understand that poor performances and runs of form are not down to lack of ability but some sort of weakness omn the mental side of things.
It's obvious for me that arsenal need 4 players to become a world class team like bayern and real madrid i couldn't dare mention barcelona because they have unbelievable front three and they maybe the best attack in history of football we are lacking quality in the ST as well as the RW of course giroud and campvell are very good players but in my opinion they are less in quality than the rest of the team so we need to improve the quality in these positins About the DM it's a number issue and i think the position is covered with flamini doing good job and elneny coming which can be deployed there About the fourth signing we need is a center back I don't think i saw till now enough minutes for gabriel to tell if he can make the position his own or not But what makes me doubt him that wenger didn't choose him till now over per which means he is not miles ahead of him so i think we need a new better CB This team can go and fight for every thing even the champions leafue....
Nothing wrong with their logic. These players are not bad players, they just lack proper management and motivation.Ramsey was outstanding at the euros, comes back to arsenal and looks below average, Gabriel was a solid defender at Villarreal, even looked decent in his first few games for us and got capped by Brazil, he's an absolute mess right now, coquelin is slowly regressing, so is bellerin and so is iwobi. You have to question the management and coaching of these players
Mertesacker coming back will hopefully help as, despite his woeful lack of mobility, he is an organiser in defence and does fire up the players around him.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Im really delighted with the change in emphasis away from possession retention to efficient attacking, it really plays into our players» ballpark, and protects us from lack of pace at the back
It really felt like a turning point and if Tottenham can help us out by at least stopping Chelsea from winning then I think the way that the Gunners came back from the dead will give the players a huge boost and will give us fans reason to believe that the fighting spirit, or lack of it, that has been one of the big problems in recent years, really is there.
I fully understand we just lost one game and uts not the end of the world but am struggling to deal with is the consistent lack of mental toughness that are the hallmarks of all title winning teams... we need to be proactive and stop been reactionary, simples... we had what is in all honesty a good couple of matches begining of the season WINNABLE games but we already fell short at the first hurdle now all the talk is about bouncing back, whatever happened to eyes on the ball straight from the off... a Westham side with a new manager, some new players and a 16 year old making his debut beating Arsenal at home is just plain disgraceful and whatever happens next does not in any way mitigate against that.....
Arsenal would get trashed if they play with a four back formation again, because of Wenger's obsolete predictable system and Arsenal's lack of high quality players.
Looking forward to get some of our main players back because we are lacking edge and consistency.
Well im not in a wonderland he has his failings as we all do and great teams find a way to win good teams sit where we are 6 -5-4 but thats besides the point and it would be nice if your aunty had bolocks cause then we d be second but ive watched the games were an offensive team most the time although were terrible in the pissing rain but for the most part the game plans have worked weve created chances quality scoring chances one after the other problem is for me the finishing unless we sit back with 9 man behind the ball or ten when you push forward you will give up a goal if you lousy forwards fail to finish the set ups have been there this year but our strikers have failed to kill the games if we create quality chances and grab leads in the first 60 minutes like we have for the most part and in those games those games should of been killed even if we give a goal or two alongside the strategy but we failed to hit multiple should be goals we tried laca we'll see abou auba although hes a bit lazy so far but we'll see but we've lacked that quality in front goal a player the chances have been there im looking at the failure of the strikers and maybe that is his fault but monreal has scored as many goals recently as our strikers and thats sad our defenders or a midfielder will score and our stikers cant tally one in th first 60 mins of a game alongside them then were tired for last 40 give them hope there still only down one and we rue our missed chances while they push thats where iv been frustrated with this season not the tactics but the finishing
Until we cease to buy our season tickets, which for many is akin to taking out a second mortgage, the ludicrous salaries paid to players and Managers will continue to increase. With regard to the present crop of Arsenal players some may lack the guts and determination of the ex players you mention but at the end of the day the problem at the club now is a lack of quality particularly through the spine of the team.Virtually all our fans recognise the need for quality in Goal, at Centre Back and DM.Unfortunately the one man who is in a position to do something about it does not seem to agree with us.
by ED I don't know about you all folks but I am dreading the summer transfer window this year, not because of the usual lack of activity from Arsenal in terms of incoming signings but that there is a genuine possibility that we could be set to lose many Arsenal players including two of our biggest stars in Alexis and Mesut Ozil, who would inevitably kick start the exodus and turn as back to a feeder club.
They have a number of promising young centre backs who ought to be given an opportunity to prove themselves for the remainder of the season in the EPL matches. They simply can not be worse than the rapidly declining Koscielny and Mustafi who can not cope with the likes of Swansea, Bournemouth etc. let alone a team like Spurs. The lack of steel at the back impacts on our more attacking players as they know they need to score 2/3 goals to have any chance of producing a win.As usual Elneny has come in for criticism but the real culprits are our centre backs and Xhaka who seems to be a fixture regardless of being bang average.
I wouldn't take this rumor as truth due to the lack of evidence, I will point to how Wenger has looked to offload players at 30 when Arsenal have backed him, if Silent Stan is actually going to get the players Wenger wants this time round then I would think Wenger is looking at top YOUNGISH talent who can do the job for us now.
That was exactly what Elneny was, his passes are mostly side & back passes, his only tackle was a foul, he was either out run or hardly made any effort to run for the ball first, his absolutely lack of creativity makes him an even worse player than Arteta!
Godin is now wanted by United as Louis van Gaal looks for big names to strengthen at the back, with injuries and a lack of form affecting a number of his players in that department this season.
Part of problem is lack of defensive cover forcing players to hold back... would love to see reus Campbell and cazorla combining with wilshere (on form) and ozil... cavalho seems obvious answer to me
The 2013 crop of free agent running backs may lack superstars, but there are several players who could help teams next season and beyond.
It is a tough environment for most players to succeed in, and Bale won't be the last Galactico to prove something of a disappointment, but there can be no doubt now that the lack of trophies for Real this season will prove the catalyst for his departure, most likely back to the more familiar and comfortable Premier League.
Previously a star player for Manchester United, it is Wayne Rooney's lack of goals that has led the club to pursue a big name like Griezmann this summer, and if the Frenchman plays up front, then the England captain would surely struggle to get back in the team.
Sometimes a player can lose or fall out of the zone, for lack of better description, and Mert is one of our most concentrated of players as he needs to be because of his leadership duties, his type of game, and perceived weakness on the back foot.
I agree, Poldi is lack of defensive mind, and not quite willing to track back, but he is the only player that got punished for that.
I think a big problem is lack of quality defensively amongst the back up players.
Injuries are not to blame for poor results but a lack of depth is, it goes back to the transfer window when we didn't sign any outfield players knowing full well we are always affected by injuries
Passing isn't in question with Ozils talents, it is his desire to run past a player instead of passing past a player and lack of desire to win the ball back that is in question.
