Is Trenberth's latest ex cathedra pronouncement consistent with his famous Climategate email: «The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.»
It is part of the discussion about Kevin Trenberth's infamous comment «The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.»
«The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't,» Dr. Trenberth
Among the emails hacked from East Anglia and posted online was one that identified the researchers» «problem»: «The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.
His Climategate fame is derived from his concern about a «travesty» that «we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment,» in addition to his other failed predictions such as future hurricane horrors while administering discipline as one of the scientific journal brown shirts.
Fellow Climategate emailer and IPCC contributor Kevin Trenberth wrote to hockey - stick creator Michael Mann in 2009: «The fact is that we can not account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it's a travesty that we can't.»

4) «The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.»
The second myth is that Kevin Trenberth's quote - mined comment «The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't» is an admission that global warming stopped.
One scientist mentioned he used a statistical «trick» to hide a decline in a warming trend, and another bemoaned the record - cold temperatures in Colorado in October, writing, «The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.»
But Trenberth's «
lack of warming at the moment» has been going on at least a decade.
The highlighted quote is this: «The fact is that we can't account for
the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.»

With even further
warming more hydrates are released, additional global soil feedback (extreme soil respiration rates, compost bomb instability) and weathering becomes a driver, now Ocean very stratified, maybe things like permanent El Nino, weather systems probably move very slow — everything gets stuck due to
lack of perturbed ocean, no or very little frozen water
at the poles.
In a three - day summit

To chart the enduring
lack of certainty, read the various leaks from the forthcoming Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report and you'll see roughly the same «maybe» forecast that scientists provided for my 1988 Discover Magazine cover story on global
warming (the climate panel was just being formed
at that time).
This is due
at least in part to a
lack of surface temperature observations in large parts
of the Arctic where
warming is occurring most rapidly.
We have fairly high confidence that we observe the history
of Heinrich events (huge discharges
of ice - rafted debris from the Laurentide ice sheet through Hudson Bay that are roughly coincident with large southern
warming, southward shift
of the intertropical convergence zone, extensive sea ice in the north Atlantic, reduced monsoonal rainfall in
at least some parts
of Asia, and other changes), and also cold phases
of the Dansgaard / Oeschger oscillations that
lack Heinrich layers and are characterized by muted versions
of the other climate anomalies I just mentioned.
Until we clear up whether there has been some kind
of accelerated
warming at depth in the real ocean, I think these results serve as interesting hypotheses about why the rate
of surface

lack a definitive answer on this topic.
For example, under the AGW paradigm it is assumed that the

I will try to get some more specific answers for you and either correct or fill out this article, but I think the main gist
of the argument is that there are other factors
at play and the simple
lack of a perfect correlation does not mean that CO2 is not the primary driver
of the general
warming seen since 1900.
It laments the increasing
lack of public, political and media attention to environmental issues, especially
at a time when some very crucial ones, like global
warming, need urgent action.
Rocket Scientists: «It is a Travesty the Climate Models do not show the

«Miami Beach is

of global -

lack of sensible civil engineering standards and sensible building codes.»
The
lack of a statistically significant
warming trend in GMST does not mean that the planet isn't
warming, firstly because GMST doesn't include the
warming of the oceans (see many posts on ocean heat content) and secondly because a
lack of a statistically significant
warming trend doesn't mean that it isn't
warming, just that it isn't
warming at a sufficiently high rate to rule out the possibility
of there being no
warming over that period.
The
lack of an increase in the rate
of warming is therefore a major obstacle for a high sensitivity to CO2, and strongly supports the view that Climate Sensitivity to CO2 (if any
at all) must be rather low.
Thus, if this reasoning was right one always could claim a recent «global
warming stop»
at any point in time, because
of «
lack of statistical significance».
Also, using the same cherry picking approach as used by «skeptics» for the recent time period, based on which they claim a «global
warming stop» or «pause» because
of lacking statistical significance
of a
warming trend, I even could claim a «pause» in global
warming from 1979 to
at least the end
of 1997.
It's incredibly easy to determine whether or not there is evidence
of cooling (or just a
lack of warming) without looking
at graphs.
Th only possibilities consistent with the theory are: (1) if you don't see
warming in a particular metric, it is the result
of the
lack of good metrics or because it is out there somewhere or, (2) if you don't see
warming and you think the metrics valid, then what you are looking
at is an insignificant trend — just noise amidst the signal.
At least the usual suspects think so since they're blaming the
lack of warming for the past 15 years on it as well as the
lack of warming from 1940 to 1980.
For example, Jones agreed with the BBC interviewer that there had been «no statistically significant
warming» since 1995 (although he asserted that the
warming was close to significant), whereas in his 2005 email he was
at pains to hide the
lack of warming from the public and even fellow researchers.
