Climate change is rapidly

Environmental scientist Neil Rose of University College London has been collecting such SCP records
from lakes around the world for 25 years.
According to more than 170 years of water records and a comparison of how much water flows in and out of the lake, consumption of freshwater is likely to blame for the shrinking of Utah's Great Salt Lake — and of
similar lakes around the world.
If this result holds for other glacially -
fed lakes around the world (and there's no reason to believe that the results won't hold), then the dangerous pollutants that environmentalists thought had largely been phased out will return and could cause similar ecological damage as they caused decades ago (DDT - thinned eggshells, fishing limitations due to PCBs, etc.).
