And researchers are not yet certain polar bears — which on

But to hail this transformation as unprecedented is to
do our mustachioed ancestors a disservice — an act of wanton disrespect made only more unseemly when one considers that they were born and lived and went to their graves without ever once waking up on a birthday morning, scraping the
ice off their laptops, and receiving salutations from a distant
land in the form of an abysmal, not - quite - functioning cartoon of chickens — one year it was elephants — either attempting, or pretending, to dance.
The material on Amazon forest dieback was in the IPCC assessment as were the numbers on recent sea level (thought the IPCC
did not use the information on recent contributions from
land ice in their estimate for 21st century warming.)

did just 10 years ago for new sea
ice to form so they can travel to denning areas on
land,» says Steve Amstrup of the USGS.
A glaciologist rather than a biologist, he wanted to investigate a question critical to climate change:
Do subglacial rivers and lakes lubricate the movement of
ice over
land — and might they somehow accelerate a glacier's flow into the ocean, triggering rapid sea level rise?
Political divisions are less apparent with factual questions that
do not infer climate change, such as whether the melting of Greenland and Antarctic
land ice, or of Arctic sea
ice, could potentially
do the most to raise sea levels.
Wind and other problems caused the 6.1 - kilogram Puma crash
landings on

did manage one run of about 46 kilometers, according to a report on the KQED Science Web site.
Current projections of global sea level rise
do not account for the complicated behavior of these giant

As you can see in Figure 1, natural
land and ocean carbon remains roughly in balance and have
done so for a long time — and we know this because we can measure historic levels of CO2 in the atmosphere both directly (in
ice cores) and indirectly (through proxies).
[Response: UVic doesn't model changes in cloud albedo, but I'm quite sure it models changes in albedo due to sea

Tonya didn't possess many of the qualities the snobby figure skating world expected from its stars — she was more athlete than
ice capades — but her talent was undeniable when she became the first American female skater to ever

Like the game's desert courses, Sherbet
Land does little to fully embrace the potential of its atmosphere, instead implementing snow and
ice in mostly superficial ways, leading to a course that feels half - hearted in both art and design.
Does the pattern of change (warming raises the equilibrium temperature, cooling decreases it), indicate a negative feedback on sea level change (e.g. as
land ice melts it requires a little warmer temperature to continue to melt further
land ice... and vice versa??).
But they can not
do that on sea
ice either; it must be
done on

But on the bright side, he noted, in a joking reference to the meeting's Danish hosts, the retreat of the sheath of
ice covering Greenland, which is Danish - controlled territory, «would increase your usable
land by, I don't know, 10,000 percent.»
The IPCC Fourth Assessment Report
did not specifically address these competing factors and essentially ignored the likelihood of much more rapid melting of Greenland and other
land - based
ice sheets.
The retreat of sea
ice from the shores in summer to an unprecedented distance is fostering erosion of the shore and increasing radically the amount of swimming bears must
do to maintain their accustomed life partly on and partly off dry

Robert, people often don't consider the

In the absence of accurate data, the IPCC also
did not take into account the full potential impact of the destabilization of
land - based
ice sheets in the polar regions in the projections in its last report.
Contrary to what the vast majority of «liberal» and «conservative» members of the public think, climate scientists
do not believe sea levels will rise if the north pole
ice cap melts (unlike the south pole
ice cap, which sits atop a
land mass, the north pole «
ice cap» is already floating in the sea, a point that various «climate science literacy» guides issued by scientific bodies like NASA and NOAA emphasize).
Ocean and
land surfaces warm at different rates, and
land covered by vegetation absorbs and reflects solar energy differently than
do deserts or
ice - caps.
Unlike
land ice, sea
ice doesn't affect sea levels because it's already displacing water.
And while you are
doing that, davie, you might tell us in your own words how less than 1c warming since the end of the little
ice age and the beginning of the industrial revolution, measured with ever changing systems in areas of exponential
land use change by people who have a total, consensual belief in global warming by ACO2 and no demonstrable scientific scepticism whatsoever, must constitute a «bad thing», awa being scientifically based and believable.
That means the gravity from that

land - based tide gauges require correction for the rise and fall of
land itself, vertical

do so.
Since the whole world
does not appear to freeze during a
ice age, the must be massive
ice making going at the pole driven by heat lifting oceans of water to the sky from the equator where it is pushed by the expanding air and vapor to the poles areas where it returns to the surface and follows cold
land like a culvert between warmer expanding ocean air back down to the equatoral region.
The Southern Hemisphere also has a pole hole; however, it
does not affect this sea
ice data set; since only
land is under this hole.
Yet we know the
land around then Arctic is warming faster than the global average so it seems unreasonable to suggest that the ocean isn't, Satellite temperature measurements up to 82.5 N support this as
does the decline of Arctic sea
ice here, here & here.
