Once a hazardous -
waste landfill has been filled and covered, it remains dangerous for decades.
Once wasted food reaches
landfills, it produces methane, a gas with 21 times the warming potential of carbon dioxide.
That will at least take care of the human
waste aspect
once the diaper hits the
landfill.
I'm sure there will be those who rebel against paying for a service they
once saw as «free», but ultimately those of us who do make an effort to reduce our
waste should not be paying for folks who do not — whether that's through our taxes or direct
landfill fees.
Most of us know that recycling helps to minimise our reliance on raw materials as well as reducing
landfill and damaging greenhouse gases - but you may not know what happens to your
waste once it has been put out for collection.
This is something I've entirely made up, but to me a zero
waste capsule wardrobe is essential a wardrobe in which nothing (or very little) will go to the
landfill once your clothes have reached the end of your life.
