Until we see otherwise, it seems the safest assumption is
typing in portrait mode and
landscape mode in the exact same way as on an iPhone with a virtual
keyboard.
While other text input options like handwriting, gestures, voice input and external
keyboards may dominate the smartwatch
landscape for the moment and possibly the near future, a
keyboard like Snapkeys will be a very welcome addition to some users» lists of smartwatch apps, and could even bring manual, key - by - key
typing on a smartwatch into the mainstream, if the app takes off upon release.
That might not seem like a lot, but with the
keyboard open in
landscape, this will result in an even lesser viewable area while
typing.
And to help cope with space restrictions, Touchpal's setting screen enables users to select a different
keyboard depending on your screen orientation, so you could opt for the QWERTY when
typing in
landscape mode, then stick with the more spacious phone keypad when in portrait.
While tilting the HTC Explorer into a
landscape orientation offers a slight respite from the fiddly
keyboard, the best way to
type out a full message with the least amount of hassle is by enabling the Trace input options.
