For my final leg of the trip to the city of Kamloops, I set the adaptive cruise control and let my mind wander, knowing the standard suite of active safety
features such as
lane departure warning,
lane keep assist, and blind - spot monitoring will keep
watch for me.
I recognize that this was done as a safety
feature to prevent distraction from drivers trying to
watch video while driving, however, there could be safe guards in place to minimize this from happening, such as disabling HDMI controls from the steering wheel while in drive, as well as
lane - monitoring while HDMI in drive is activated to alert the driver if unexpected
lane shifts are occurring, and in that case, a fail - safe could disable video until the car is in park again.
