films than he was already — is at the peak of his powers
here, ironically but appropriately directing «Vice» in such a way that phrases like «peak of his powers» (and other
language connoting masculine swagger or preening mastery) seem contrary to the spirit of the thing.
At first I questioned the decision to release the French horror flick, High Tension, in the United States dubbed instead of subtitled, as most foreign

Here's a fantastic look at the first English
language film from directing genius Park Chan Wook.
This one promises some great work from the three leads and certainly as a stylish, creepy air about it thanks to Chan - wook's handiwork,
here applied to his first English
language film.
Behind every great
film is an unforgettable score, and while we have yet to find out just what Oldboy director Park Chan - wook has in store for us with his English -
language debut, Stoker —
here's a taste of the
film's score by the always excellent Clint Mansell, titled In Full Bloom.
The cast did not transition to English
language cinema much, although ter Steege, making her debut
here, did appear in the international 1990s dramas Immortal Beloved and Paradise Road and was cast in the Stanley Kubrick Holocaust
film that was abandoned after Spielberg's Schindler's List materialized.
The potential troublesome optics and use of
language here gives me some pause, but we'll wait until the
film arrives to access.
Such a bonus is bound to hold great appeal for fans of the
film and its disappointing absence
here is almost certainly the result of having newly - added foreign
language tracks and just over three hours of feature
film video on Disc 1, as opposed to the 84 minutes plus cartoon short that comprised the Vault Disney's first platter.

Fassbender and Smit - McPhee are really excellent

Here, Jodorowsky's magical realist, fable - like cinematic
language finally enters the real world; if cult
films like «El Topo,» «The Holy Mountain,» and «Santa Sangre» interwove elaborately absurdist imagery with narratives borrowed from genre and myth, «The Dance of Reality» feels like Jodorowsky returning to the scene of the crime — to the the childhood visions and heartbreaks that started it all.

film, logged over twenty - six hours of finished time voicing these characters.
The two
films, seen by many pundits as the chief contenders for the foreign -
language Oscar, also appear to be the frontrunners
here, continuing a rivalry that started way back in May at Cannes.
Ford's command of cinematic space and the
language of the frame
here is unparalleled, and the performances and everything else in the
film match it.
Here, Stewart doesn't need to steal the
film from anyone: She's in virtually every crisp frame of it, holding the camera's woozy gaze with her own quizzical, secretive stare and knotted body
language.

Yorgos Lanthimos Yorgos Lanthimos is the Greek
film - director who has acquired a cult following for his disquieting surreal strangeness;
here is his second English -
language movie.
With her flattened vocal inflections and defensive body
language evoking a very specific vein of British femininity, her work
here is more focused and immediate than anything else in this bewildering
film.
If a book from this list was translated into other
languages, had a
film / TV adaptation, or was turned into an audiobook, that can be mentioned
here, too.
In 1962, Harald Reinl's German -
language spaghetti western, The Treasure of Silver Lake, was
filmed here, and whilst much of Reinl's direction has been criticized, this dramatic setting elevates the quality of the movie spectacularly.
It is
here that there is a slight problem, whenever I watch a non-English
language film, I never, ever resort to dubbing rather than subtitles.
I have made the
