lap times and can't even get within a second of the bronze medal, let alone the gold, and I feel like I need a few hours of practice before I can even vaguely hope to
race in a Ferrari 312T F1 car around Zandvoort.
The switch up here is that there are no
laps as is standard
in traditional
racing games.
There's even the option to rewind the
game by 5 seconds if you scraped a corner, spun out, or just made a mistake
in a 200
lap race that ends up costing you.

Trackmania Turbo is a success simply because it takes the dullest mode
in racing games — the timed
lap - and makes it fun and exhilarating.
The timed
lap would be a mode that I'd ignore
in any other
racing game.
The others will actually aim to win the
game, which means
in death
race, they'll aim to complete three
laps and ignore everybody else.
This top down
racing game lets you compete on Bronze, Silver or Gold settings
in three different modes: Dirty Rally, Hot
Lap and Delivery.
Mario kart is a
game where you
race with a character of your choice (You start out with 12)

To be honest, the reason I generally play horror
games is that sports and
racing games scare me to death — I haven't managed to get to grips with a football
game since Sensible Soccer, whereas any
game featuring words like «suspension», «
lap times» or «drift» send me searching desperately for a locker to hide
in.
