Filling one

galleries at David Zwirner (the 519 West 19th Street
space) will be a
large - scale work that Flavin originally created for his first solo museum exhibition.

This new show spans two
galleries: the usual Chelsea
space and another in Bushwick, which the
gallery recently opened to some fanfare and confusion — the latest sign
of an apparently booming interest in contemporary art at
large.
Their art comprises two - dimensional cut - outs and collages; free - standing sculptures; and
large - scale installations that engage the architecture
of the museum's
gallery space.

As the artist explains,» The
space will be filled with sinuous,
large, sprawling structures on two opposing walls (units composed
of weaving
of metal grid and clear, iridescent,» edge glowing» Plexi glass), which transmit, reflect, and refract light while the painted dark walls

gallery are enclosed with images that echo the shadows and reflections
of the gleaming sculpture.
It is something
of a relief to enter the
large salon
space that follows in the Bourgeois
Gallery, its bookshelves, tables and cushions punctuated by Simon Fairlie's huge Haystacks (2018), and the surreal interventions
of Olaf Breuning's I am Scared
of Nature (2009) and Paul McCarthy's The Bavarian Deer (1987/99).
Their
large - scale installations are often in arranged in tension and certainly inhabit the
space of the
gallery visitor.
Out
of the three rooms their installations will occupy at the event at PACE in London, the
largest will include six works and feature Universe
of Water Particles, Transcending Boundaries, a virtual waterfall that extends beyond the
gallery wall onto the floor, flowing through the
space and around the feet
of the viewer.
As part
of the transition to our new, expanded facility, we are very excited to unveil the revamped McKernan
Gallery in late summer, which will now showcase contemporary art from 2000 to the present and a
larger New Media & Digital Media
space.
The small number and size
of the works amplify the
large and open
space of that
gallery and stand in stark contrast to the monumentally scaled works by Clyfford Still on view in adjacent
galleries.
At this exhibition, she will fill the

of a gaggle
of new
galleries to open
spaces in London during, or in time for Frieze Week.
The region will need more initiatives like that one, and increased support from the government and tech industry, to ensure the health not only
of the
larger gallery imports — the Gagosians and the Paces — but also
of spaces with deep cultural roots, like the Mission District's Galería de la Raza.
With the incorporation
of open
space into the design
of the building that permits an unusual degree
of flexibility, it consist
of a courtyard that features artworks by Qiu Zhijie, Song Dong, Yin Xiuzhen, and Zheng Guogu, two
large galleries to the east and west and a smaller
gallery to the rear for video, installations etc..
