Although the very
last frames of the film made me smile, immensely, I left the film with a bad taste in my mouth.

of their union, Ana can pull on the rope that Christian had tied around her neck.

lasts about a nanosecond before being replaced by one that isn't).
Both
of those
films provided intrigue, suspense and engaging storylines worthy
of your full attention from the first
frame to the
last.
Not so perfect are the
last few
frames of the
film, however.
By the way, the
last shot
of «High Sierra,» with Ida Lupino walking toward the camera,
framed by the mountains and the sky, is one
of the great
last moments in
film noir and in all Hollywood movies.
Rear Window is thoroughly entertaining from first
frame to
last, and one
of those rare
films that has only one disappointment: it eventually ends.
This compelling, thought - provoking and extremely clever
film keeps the audience on the edge
of their seats until the
last frame.
But the sense I get here is that Crowe is less concerned with how his
film plays to the industry than with how it rekindles his enthusiasm for the medium after taking such a beating for his
last effort — that approach can go either way, but having also recently wrapped a pair
of music documentaries (one
of which, «Pearl Jam Twenty» will play Toronto next month), he's clearly in a productive
frame of mind.
With a new domestic total
of $ 198.3 million, the
film is still 12 % behind where Mockingjay — Part 1 stood at this time
last year, but at least the final Hunger Games feature avoided the ignominy
of falling to second in its sophomore
frame.
