For them, at
last, there would be some kind of future; some older faces to apply to their unfolding
lives, some language
in which their identity could be properly discussed, some rubric by which it could be explained - not
in terms of sex, or sexual practices, or bars, or subterranean activity, but
in terms of their future
life stories, their potential
loves, their eventual chance at some kind of constructive happiness.»

last week, I've been thinking about how differently my

In the

And if my eyes were more filled with tears than those of a repentant woman, and if each tear were more precious than a pardoned woman's many tears; if I could find a place more humble than the place at his feet, and if I could sit there more humbly than a woman whose heart's sole choice was this one thing needful; if I
loved him more sincerely than the most loyal of his servants, eager to shed the
last drop of his
life - blood
in his service; if I had found greater favor
in his eyes than the purest among women — nevertheless, if I asked him to alter his purpose, to reveal himself differently, to be more lenient with himself, he would doubtless look at me and say: Man, what have I to do with thee?
That the Lord's Supper is celebrated and his death proclaimed until he returns; that
in the name of the triune God baptism is administered and God's justifying Word is preached; that we are the Lord's
in life and
in death and therefore
in our first and
in our
last failure; that we believe, hope and
love — to proclaim and mediate that is the proper function of the Church.
I
live by one verse and one verse alone, John 3:16 «For God so
loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, and that «whosoever» believes

lived as a monk, I felt myself

Last but not least, as members of the human species, our universal responsibility is to encourage comprehension and appreciation for the excellence of the human spirit

life and consciousness and holds out the possibility of its continued evolution toward higher levels of insight, understanding,
love, and compassion.
I relate with some of your dangers, I use to experience some of them when I first «left the church»... But I will say, years later... now that I have learned to center the majority of my relationships around Christ, that this builds
lasting relationships and it is fulfilling for all
in so many ways... I am learning to «
live in community» with some close believers and feel as though I am experiencing
Love like I have never experienced it before.
while breifly going thru this artical it was makeing my stomach turn, this is just what the devil wants is for doubt and confusion, christianity is growing stronger than ever, souls are being saved and

I need only to ask: if you wash your feet before prayer, and when the

in a coherent manner...:) Yes, the jesus story... one of those that many
love to argue about, even me at times
in my

And
last, the spiritual unity with Being which the mystic desires is for Schweitzer attained through giving expression to the natural proclivity within us of the will - to - relatedness, or
love, and by becoming united
in ethical concern with all forms of
life in the world about us.
«I think people picture me
in nature fighting against the elements, and for about one month a year that definitely is me, but I've also
lived in New York City for the

Last... John 3: 16 - 17... «For God so
loved the world that He gave His onlly Son that whosoever believes
in Him won't perish but have everlasting
life.
«For god so
loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth
in him shall not parish but have ever

And a fifth reason is that the portrayal of «the
last things»
in these terms, indeed the emphasis on some destiny for man out of this world which makes what goes on
in this world merely preparatory for heaven or a way of avoiding hell, is thought by a great many people to entail a neglect of their duty here and now to
live in Christian
love and to find
in that their deepest satisfaction, whatever may await them when this
life is ended.

last days would be full of mockers, sensual and separating themselves from the rest of us (as McArthur just did, and we do
in response) he says» BUT YOU, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying
in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves
in the
love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal
life.
And with the cup, so clear a symbol of his blood
in that red wine, he saw, as we did, that his
life, poured forth, would seal a new commitment, would form upon the altar of God's grace a whole new covenant that would replace the ancient, worn - out slaughter of the animals with one complete and final act, the sacrifice of God's own son to show the world, to show us all the height and depth and majesty, the eternal glory of God's
love, which gives itself forever, or until we come, at
last, and offer up our own
lives in return.
Such an impression will of course be misleading, the consequence of taking the printed record too seriously, and it will not be total: Here and there
in the general excited buzz, there will be visible an outcrop of the unchanging reality beneath, some out - of - date old cleric still raising a stubborn voice about the
love of God, the burden of sin, the pain of Christ, the
love of our neighbor, the pilgrimage of this
life, and the Four
Last Things.
