Ironically, the very marine core drilling expedition (Brinkhuis et al and many
other papers
last year in Nature) that yielded disturbing indications that the Arctic climate can warm more dramatically than previously thought also revealed extremely organic - rich sediments which might portend oil deposits — which, if tapped would help restore the very
conditions under which these organics were deposited in the first place.
