In June, the tribunal nullified Mr. Sekibo's election, saying that Mr. Uchendu earned the majority of
lawful votes cast and that there was substantial non-compliance with the electoral law in the process of the poll.
He said being the only surviving candidate with the «majority of
lawful votes cast», INEC ought to issue him a certificate of return.
It insisted that the 1st respondent, Mansir Mashi was not duly elected by majority of
lawful votes cast during the election.
He, however, urged the tribunal to declare him (Otti) the winner on account of
the lawful votes cast during the election.
