painting, I took an old rag and dragged it across the Old White, creating a

If you're wanting a bit of a
layered look with the colors, you could then dry - brush another color (s) on top on the spray
paint, once it's dry.
Then when my
paint had dried, one more
layer of top coat and my
look was complete!
I felt when they weren't spray
painted over they gave an added iridescent
look on top of the
layer that was spray
painted white.
To create the
layered look of crackled stone, I
painted them in Fusion Mineral
Paint in Algonquin — the same
paint that I used on the Metallic Nightstands for the bedroom.
I love the
layered look and don't think I can go back to just
painting a solid color and walking away.
So even though the
paint underneath will
look great, to the eye you won't be able to tell because the top
layer could still
look a mess.
I like the old
looking signs with

paint made it harder to get the distressed
look when it came time to use the sandpaper.
If you prime first and then want to distress the edges to create an aged
look, you will see the white
layer of primer show up on your
painted surface.
