Each consists of multiple
layers of handmade paper from the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree, painted by the artist with sumi ink or gently singed.

My acrylic work is built up
of several
layers of pattern and colour, using my own
handmade stencils, stamps or printing with bits

But Dezsö's meticulous sense
of craft is best evidenced by her elaborate «tunnel books» in which
layers of Japanese
handmade paper are cut and sewn together into collapsible dioramas.
A long process
of layering leaves and insects onto tissue and
handmade papers forms Chakravarthy's sensitive and tactile exploration
of the natural world.
New works, such as Horizontal Reversals, 2017, are defined by the juxtaposition
of two pieces
of handmade paper framed together, that have each been divided by densely
layered black pigment.
