beta and according to neogaf here are some details:
Today though, we were tipped off about a
leaked build of Android 8.0 Oreo from the closed
beta for the OnePlus 5.
OnePlus 5 fans were wondering if that means their Oreo update was imminent, and indeed earlier this very month an Oreo
build from the closed
beta group was
leaked.
Alternatively, the
leaked build and Samsung's confirmation that the
beta program will end soon is a fairly obvious sign that a stable official Orea
build is on the way in the coming weeks, so you might be better off waiting just a little longer.
The Note 8 does not have an official
beta program, but a
leaked build is available.
That's because, like every
beta / testing
build that Huawei releases internally, the software version is changed to mitigate
leaks.
At this point, the
beta for the Galaxy S8 is already on its fourth incremental update, whereas the Oreo
build available for the Galaxy Note 8 is unofficial
leaked software that just hit the internet.
The app has so far been tested to work successfully on the Xiaomi Mi5 / Mi5s running on LineageOS 15, OnePlus 3, 3T with Oxygen OS 5.0, Moto G5s Plus and even the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 running the
leaked Android Oreo
beta build.
Meanwhile, XDA Developers forum members recently
leaked what appears to be a link to the OnePlus 5 Open
Beta 2
build and posted about installing the
build.
The development may not impact the release of Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy Note 8 whose
beta has yet to officially start, though some experimental
builds have already been
leaked online in recent weeks.
Oreo
builds for the Snapdragon - powered S8 and S8 + were shared, and while it appears to very similar compared to what we've so far with the
beta, it's reported that this
leaked build is smoother, has a new boot animation, and is updated with the latest January 2018 security patch.
There's no word to say when the final
build will roll out, but with the official
beta program ending on 15 January and this stable
build leaking out, and end of January release is certainly on the cards.
