While star Ryan Reynolds has remained somewhat mum on the subject, what is known is that someone
leaked test footage of the movie online.
Instead, it took
leaked test footage in July 2014 and a final push from fans to convince Fox to take a risk on the merc with a mouth.
The project languished in development for over a decade, saw Ryan Reynolds portray a highly criticized adaptation of the character in a different movie, then finally received a green light
after leaked test footage received an immensely positive reaction.
Then one day, one among the key personnel (Reynolds, director Tim Miller, and two screenwriters — Rhet Reese and Paul Wernick) had decided to
leak a test footage on the Internet, and boy, it made comic book fans go nuts.
But, as Deadpool fans know,
some leaked test footage brought the movie back to life.
Shaw also helped design the Deadpool suit seen in
the leaked test footage, which was also used for the final film.
Deadpool could be considered «the little screenplay that could,» floating around Hollywood for nearly a decade before finally coming to fruition based, in large part, on the quality of the leaked script and
leaked test footage.
