Each
weapon has two forms with different attack speeds, animations and even limited
combos (something Dark Souls never did), and
learning the ins and outs of each was compelling enough on it's own for me to be comfortable with the limited selection.
- The Training Room is a nice addition for anyone who wants to get to know their
weapon first and
learn combos associated with each iteration.
There are no

learn, no extra moves to unlock, you can't jump which means there's no aerial combat, and there are no other melee
weapons to unlock.
There are ways to mix up the traditional combat like training in the dojo to
learn new
combos and moves, gaining new
weapons from vanquished bosses, and finding various forms of equipment that grant you temporary boosts in defense or attack.
To get the most out of each
weapon, you'll not only have to
learn how to do each
combo but when to use them in battle.
Take your time and observes the monsters» behavior patterns,
learn the
combos for the
weapon you chose, do not button mash, upgrade your gear if you can't kill it before it leaves the area,
learn elemental weaknesses, do not be ashamed of running away, pick up everything (even dung is useful) but do not forget to put it in your item box, never sell anything early game and never expect to be godly strong EVER.
