We
've seen a lot of evidence about what's coming, through the HomePod firmware leak, and reports including one from Bloomberg this week that outlines exactly how the iPhone interface will work without a
home button, but Apple should still
have plenty to reveal that we haven't seen at this event, including at
least a few amazing ARKit demos.
On an iPhone, you
have to press and hold both the power and
home buttons at the same time for at
least 10 seconds.
It also
has that distinct «n» where the iPad
home button would be and a giant lanyard hole in the lower left corner, which gives at
least one corner of the tablet a Battlestar Galactica flair.
The iPhone X's OLED screen is beautiful, but a
home button and Touch ID still feel somewhat critical to me — at
least until I
've handled the X firsthand and can judge the gestures and face recognition myself.
A single
button would've looked much better, but I can at
least applaud Samsung for ditching the big front - mounted
home button of previous models.
At
least on the iPhones, you
have the fingerprint scanner /
home button there, but here it is just pointless.
According to incoming reports, Cupertino
has plans to completely get rid of the iconic
Home button that
has featured on its entire smartphone lineup, with the incoming iPhone 7 set to improve this
button even further by including 3D Touch capabilities, at
least according to other rumors.
Last but not
least, we also catch another glimpse at the «flower»
home button which apparently
has something to do with Google Assistant.

have at
least given a pure Dual SIM + SD Card slot for their flagship phone.
One handed usage of the phone is not easily possible, thus it's a good thing that Sony
has at
least provided a couple of options such as «double tap on
home button» to drag the entire notification and quick settings section down, to be accessible easily, and then the option to bring the pattern lock section towards your hand, based on the hand you are using.
Chances are at
least one version of the next iPhone won't
have a
home button.
You
'd think that maybe Google
would have included at
least a
home button in the position of the Windows key on a standard keyboard so you don't need to reach up to the touchscreen to return to
home.

least include these — it's a slender black lozenge with a
D - pad, voice search
button, back, play / pause, and
home keys.
