The gas constant therefore sets the volume of atmosphere needed to
leave the surface temperature at the level required to both support the atmosphere AND achieve radiative balance at the top of the atmosphere.

Finally, the presence of vigorous climate variability presents significant challenges to near - term climate prediction (25, 26),

Based on the Cohen et al paper it's likely that
leaving out the most volatile data series would in the present case result in a time series where warming continues with less plateauing than we see in the existing data on global average
surface temperature.
The Earth's albedo reflects away about 30 % of the Sun's 1,368 W / m ^ 2 energy
leaving 70 % or 958 W / m ^ 2 to «warm» the
surface (1.5 m above ground) and at an S - B BB equilibrium
temperature of 361 K, 33 C cooler (394 - 361) than the earth with no atmosphere or albedo.
Firstly they don't calculate correctly the

The Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) sand castle was built by smoothing all the oscillations in Global Mean
Surface Temperature (GMST) before 1970s,

left out that Hsiang et al actually think there is a causal relationship bewteen
Surface Air
Temperature and crime — both crime against persons and property crimes.
The job of looking at important problems in the
surface temperature record, problems which are not yet properly addressed by the government agencies responsible for that information, is instead being
left to ad - hoc associations of volunteers acting in the public interest.
Including stratosphere adds only little uncertainty, which allows replacing the concept to effective radiative
temperature leaving earth to open space, when CO2 concentration is changed, but troposphere and
surface otherwise unmodified (the IPCC definition of radiative forcing allows stratosphere to adjust).
That is the definition of a dynamic system which may have all kinds of different cycles and it is not hard to see how this could
leave any number of cycles in the
surface temperature record.
