This strand of thought is not alien to the party, and for much of the history of the Liberal Party, and then the Liberal Democrats, it has been able to coexist happily with centre -
left social liberalism.

left was that we were now entering a new era of

social liberalism was a winner outside of a few Southern backwaters.
