So, in the spirit of human / dog tradition, I'll just give my dog a few
scraps of starchy
leftovers with their raw
meat.
However, most pet owners will do well by their dogs if they buy a good quality dry dog food and dress it with some
meat broth (no salt added),
leftover vegetables, or lean
meat scraps.
Leftover, fatty
meat scraps can produce severe inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) leading to abdominal pain, vomiting and bloody diarrhea.
Some holiday foods we hold dear can be quite dangerous to pets, such chocolate and cocoa, candy and sugarless gum that contain xylitol, yeast bread dough,
leftover fatty
meat scraps, and fruit cakes with raisins and currants.
I've found that they're been in business for over 30 years, and that the
meat used is actually good
meat, instead of some gross mix of
leftover scraps.
