help you burn higher calories than
leg extensions.

help push the bar down and then allow you to slowly lower the weight on your own; on the overhead triceps
extension, use

The idea is that you could work one muscle to fatigue and then continue working the muscle with the
help of other muscle groups, for example you could do a
leg extension which will work your quads and then go straight in and do squats which will still work your quads but will also be working your hamstrings and glutes.
It can also be argued that this exercise may
help if you are a soccer player, but power lifting has been demonstrated to improve sprinting and kicking ability much more than any variety of
leg extensions.
However, in practice it rarely
helps and sometimes exacerbates the problem due to the large shear forces that accompany the
leg extension movement.
