I will clarify — the tree growth had been a function of
temperature,
as that was the limiting factor,
for the
length of the
proxy,
as confirmed by other
proxies from that area such
as boreholes.
From that we can only conclude that CET (or any other equally local
temperature) can not be used
as proxy for global
temperatures, at least not over periods of this
length.
