Technically, True Grit is
less a movie remake than a second try at filming the wonderful Charles Portis source novel, but the irony here is that the Coens» Ladykillers is a more ambitious, clever concept for a film than their admittedly beautiful western.

remakes considerably
less so, the upcoming
remake of horror / comedy classic Fright Night is looking better and better with every bit of new information released.
More graphic means
less creepy, as the original film at least had a surreal subtext that stayed with you after the
movie ended, but this
remake will be easily forgotten once the next horror film comes out, which in 2005 means the following week, if current patterns hold.
It may not be a good
movie, much
less a
remake of The Absent - Minded Professor, but who doesn't remember flubber — either the title or the namesake green, gooey stretchy stuff?
