Two of those games, Super Star Soldier and Soldier Blade, are actually sequels to this game, and both of them have better graphics and sounds and
less repetitive level design.

In
lesser hands, the art
design might have overwhelmed everything, leaving the
levels to feel like an overly cluttered and
repetitive mess.
It is initially fun for the first hour but quickly loses its appeal because of
repetitive gameplay,
repetitive level design, dull non existent narrative and an underwhelming visual presentation and the
less said about the voice acting the better.
The biggest change to the FDS / NES version is that it alters the
levels — there are 12 instead of 8, and each has its own original
design, so at least it feels a little
less repetitive.
First there aren't the same
level of resources, second the work is much
less repetitive, and third no - one has
designed workflow methods that are going to work over the large range of methods that scientists actually use.
