Hi Candice, Ive successfully made raw
chocolate with brown rice syrup, as you probably know it is
less sweet than maple / agave / coconut nectar, but it works the same.
That flavor is much
less noticeable in the
chocolate one, even my mom (who hates
sweet potato) loves the
chocolate one so maybe give that one a shot next I am not used to baking by weight but am getting into the habit and have started including the gram measurement on my most recent ones, so hopefully that helps!

Of course they're different in taste and texture, and it's not like I don't enjoy the real deal, buttery and sugary brownies (even if I do like them a little
less sweet now), but I will gladly choose these as a very healthy replacement for everyday
chocolate cravings and save the real brownies for only very special occasions.
I altered a recipe from Gluten - free Goddess to make it a bit
less sweet (think muffin, not cupcake), added
chocolate chips and changed the servings to make them substantial.

They may be a little
less healthy than the peanut butter variety, but the
chocolate makes them a nice
sweet treat that isn't too bad for you.
3 / 4C Light spelt flour (or other flour of your choice) 1 / 4C Cocoa 1 / 8t Salt 3 / 4t Baking powder 1 / 2C Coconut sugar (I like to use coconut sugar in my baking as it's
less processed than other sweeteners, it's also
less sweet than refined sugar so these are more chocolatey than super
sweet, perfect for this
chocolate lover) 2T Tahini 2T Oil (I used rapeseed, but any neutral oil is fine) 1T Ground flaxseed 1 / 4C Non-dairy milk (You might need 1 or 2 extra tablespoons of milk if your tahini is very thick.
I make it
less sweet so that the
chocolate flavors can come through more pronounced.
I definitely tend to prefer
less -
sweet chocolate cakes with
sweeter buttercreams — that's just my personal taste preference.

If you've previously only paired oranges with dry fruits and
chocolate, I urge you to try the
less acidic and pleasant
sweet lime, and you will not be disappointed.
So, along with using cocoa nibs instead of
chocolate, I also cut back a bit on the sugar in this version of the cake, I wanted something a little
less sweet for those mornings when «
less sweet» is calling to me.
I would have preferred to have a higher cocoa content in the
chocolate which would have made the
chocolates a little richer and
less sweet.

I think they would be great without any additional topping or even with dark

I don't get too crazy with
chocolate but I do love it best when in
less sweet, or even savoury dishes.
Someone emailed me before saying they used unflavored rice protein instead of
chocolate, which would be the reason why the bars are
less flavorful and
sweet.
I tested this method with my Gluten - Free Oatmeal
Chocolate Chip cookies and found that the results were slightly softer and slightly
less sweet, but the cookies still held together well.
But I wouldn't want a
sweeter chocolate here, nor would I want to decrease the maple syrup in the dough as it will make for
less spready cookies.
