I've heard from my elementary teaching colleagues that sometimes they
spend less time teaching science in order to have more time to teach reading.
For expert teachers, this might
mean less time teaching their own students and, if these really are the best teachers, this is no small sacrifice.
Because schools do not have computers for every student, tests are staggered throughout the day, which translates to more hours spent administering tests and
less time teaching.
«Teach less» means teachers teach fewer hours per day or week than teachers in U.S. Finnish high school teachers spend about 40 %
less time teaching than U.S. teachers.
