The specs on paper are virtually the same — 190kW at 5500rpm and 380Nm at 3000Nm — but the Mazda propeller heads have fiddled around with a few bits to make it a smoother drive, with
less torque steer.
There seems to be
less torque steer than before, and the shifter seems much more robust.
Less power means
less torque steer, and better balance means fewer moments of annoyance.
The Ford Focus ST is also less squirrelly and gives
less torque steer than the older «Speed3.
The GTI exhibits the much
less torque steer, but also has about 50 less horsepower to deal with.

The famously athletic chassis is now aided by optional active
torque vectoring, but we're
less enthusiastic about the new electric power
steering, which isn't quite as communicative as before.

torque - vectoring, it'll lap the Nurburgring in
less than eight minutes.
Partly it's the
torque converter of the six - speed ZF auto, which fuzzes the throttle response at low speeds, partly the variable - assistance

There is a fair amount of
torque steer under wide - open throttle, and the turning radius is just slightly
less than that of a school bus, but it handles and accelerates well.
Drivers will find brisk acceleration without
torque steer, and Nissan claims it'll hit 60 mph in

Despite pumping all that power through only the front wheels, Honda's magical suspension engineering nullifies the
torque steer that makes
lesser front - wheel - drive vehicles feel as if they tug to one side during heavy acceleration.
Downshifts from the 7 - speed
torque converter automatic are delivered with
less prodding from the gas pedal, and the
steering is organic and features actual road feel, a trait that's rapidly diminishing in new cars.
Off the mark, you might want to go easy on the throttle as anything
less than a sedate launch unleashes some
torque steer.
Turbo lag and
torque steer were still present, but to a much
lesser degree.
They're two completely different animals, one beset with

less and it's rather easy to control.
With Sport engaged and starting off more or
less normally, the front inside wheel first breaks loose and then the
torque yanks the
steering wheel to the side.
All this takes place in
less than 50 milliseconds (one - twentieth of a second) from
steering wheel input to
torque reduction, so it's effectively instantaneous.
