To launch our
scheme, 10 of our staff have moved over to
apprenticeships in one of three qualifications, Teaching and Learning in Schools,
Level 2; Team Leading,
Level 2; and Management,
Level 3.

Apprenticeship standards, there is an improvement in skills, behaviour and knowledge
levels within the
Apprenticeship schemes, as well as increased requirements for maths, English and ICT which in turn, drive up the quality within the sector.
Ultimately, the
Apprenticeship Levy creates a fantastic opportunity for the legal sector to create new entry
level routes into the profession, beyond just graduate
schemes.
While graduate
schemes might be best for some industries, others will offer more
apprenticeships, paid internships or entry -
level roles.
That said,
schemes can be highly competitive, and having additional qualifications, such as two A
levels or an Advanced
Apprenticeship, could boost your application chances.
Whilst the obvious difference between each of the above
levels is how advanced the skills and knowledge you acquire will be, there are other things which separate one from the other and not all
apprenticeship schemes are open to everyone.
The Apprentice Learner Survey found that only 4.5 % of those who completed their
apprenticeship scheme with a
Level 4 vocational qualification in 2013 became unemployed within just six months.
Higher
Apprenticeships are similar to other
apprenticeship schemes — but are available at higher education
level.
The main ones for school leavers are an
apprenticeship (started after GCSEs, A
levels and / or vocational qualifications depending on the
level) or a graduate
scheme after university.
This is an industry in which both graduate
schemes and higher -
level apprenticeships are less widely available than in some other career areas such as finance or retail.

Individual local councils offer
apprenticeships at different
levels and some offer
schemes suitable for school leavers who want professional training.
Law
apprenticeships exist in the form of government - backed, employer - designed «trailblazer»
schemes, which cater for apprentices working towards three broad
levels: legal administration / support, paralegal or solicitor.
