With
levels taking mere minutes to get through, I was often finding myself
stuck on boss
fights for what felt like forever.
One of the moments that
stick out in my head is a sewer
level in which you have to
fight a poop boss.
Flame Over is a fire
fighting action game with randomly generated
levels, blending twin
stick shooter and roguelike elements.
It's not just a twin -
stick shooter, it's also a
fighting game, meaning you need to be able to deal with close combat, stealth, and traversing the
level to become the top outlaw.
It could feel somewhat awkward now and then as I was moving all about the
level with the analog
stick,
fighting various enemies, and tapping the rear touch pad all at once.
When this happened, I often moved to the WANTED Versus mode to
fight and
level up the characters that were involved in the particular story mission I was
stuck on before attempting it again.
However, these additional moments feel tacked on and none particularly excel themselves — some of the later
levels have the player taking control of Sir Francis Haddock whilst engaging in sword
fights that amount to little more than waggling the left analogue
stick.
Anytime there's change on this
level people get caught at the dirty end of the
stick, but by
fighting change as we have in our industry is left us all at the dirty end of the
stick, especially in the consumers eyes.
