To offer a few examples: lawyer disciplinary systems are much more (if still imperfectly) transparent and professionalized; lawyers now have more tools available to them to ensure that they deliver good quality legal services to the public; and the public now has more (if still limited) options regarding the delivery of legal services (like, for example,
licensed paralegals in Ontario and unbundled legal services).
