The white bumps are often caused by oral thrush (both in children and adults), leukoplakia, oral lichenplanus, and canker sores, injuries (from biting, burning, dental appliances), piercings and jewelry, among other conditions.
«I was really excited to hear about their work because the cat disease behaved very similarly to what I saw in my human patients with oral lichenplanus,» Fazel said.
Translating Veterinary Medicine to Human Medicine While there is no cure for oral lichenplanus to date, there is hope — in the form of a novel treatment for a similar disease that affects cats.
