of the scientific method, but thanks)--
Living forever in heavenly bliss (I am content with this
life)-- The opportunity to divide humanity based upon different belief systems (There is enough dividing us already)-- Purpose, a code
of ethics, and
fulfillment (I have that already, without religion)-- Develop a personal relationship with god (I've never seen or heard from any gods nor have I seen any independantly verified scientifically collected peer reviewed proof.
This «true myth» idea comes from C. S. Lewis, who said that his realization
of Jesus being the
fulfillment of the pagan myths which Lewis had studied his whole
life is the realization that led him to move from atheism into Christianity.
A «true» model
of God will be one that is a powerful, persuasive construal
of God as being on the side
of life and its
fulfillment in our time.17
The confines
of individualism, the closed world
of consumption, the supremacy
of productivism - and, for many, an obsessive struggle for sheer daily survival obscure humanity's larger objectives: the right to
live liberated from oppression and exploitation, the right to equal opportunities, social justice, peace, spiritual

of substantive justice.
In return for the individual's
fulfillment of his obligations, the community is required by Islam to protect the individual's
life and property, and to safeguard the chastity
of his womenfolk.
One can not imagine any picture
of the kingdom, satisfying to Jesus, that did not involve this
fulfillment of personal
life.
It is on the side
of life and its
fulfillment, despite the tragedies and failures along the way.
It is a destabilizing, inclusive, nonhierarchical vision
of Christian faith, the claim that the gospel
of Christianity is a new creation for all
of creation — a
life of freedom and
fulfillment for all.
True power and self -
fulfillment are by - products
of a rightly ordered
life, not its goals.
