survivors of abuse and trauma in group children's homes, hospitals, schools, and therapy settings.
So many good things came from taking in these awesome

life of abuse and torture to become happy dogs running free, making friends and truly finding their enjoyment

Generally, the factors that courts look at in awarding general damages for pain and suffering are the nature
of the acts, the duration
of the
abuse, the relationship between the perpetrator and the plaintiff, including any breach
of trust, the age and vulnerability
of the plaintiff and the impact on the
survivor's
life, including education and career.
Inadequate and underfunded services to prevent violence and support
survivors, and insufficient affordable housing and shelters accessible to women fleeing
abuse, particularly in rural and northern communities, violate the rights
of women and girls to
live in safety and free from violence.
Sexual assault isn't just a matter for the police and criminal courts, it results in lasting damage for
survivors, compromising both work and home
life, hurting relationships, and negatively impacting virtually every aspect
of an
abuse victim's existence.

survivor, or other layperson; assist people to deal with a «
life - disrupting» event, such as a death,
abuse, serious accident, addiction, or diagnosis
of a physical, emotional, or mental disability, for oneself or a relative; are operated on an informal, free -
of - charge, and nonprofit basis; provide support and education; and are voluntary, anonymous, and confidential.
As a systems therapist, incest
survivor, and recovering alcoholic, I've
lived through several stages
of our culture's attempt to come to terms with child sexual
abuse — as a victim in the silent 1950s; as a therapy client in the oblivious 1960s and 1970s; and as a psychotherapist in the 1980s and 1990s, when once - dismissed accounts
of abuse filled my therapy practice (and my television screen) only to be partly discredited within the decade during another swing
of the cultural pendulum.
