Reaper — This CW show was loaded with the right kind of slacker humor and schtick that made movies
like Zombieland and Warm Bodies such hits.
Heard has been on the verge of breaking out for a while, starting with her starring role in All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, moving through her clothes - free scenes in The Informers, and films
like Zombieland, The Ward, Drive Angry and The Rum Diary.
What I learned from the unambitious, snore inducing and hardly original film, is to always expect the unexpected, to always be prepared, and that usually goofy disaster pics (
like Zombieland - 2009) are more fun watches than the ones that try to be so serious.

Zombieland, co-creators and executive producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick talked about the journey from TV series to movie and now back to TV pilot, what it's been
like to work with Amazon, what motivated the decision to have the same characters from the movie on the TV show, how they envision it as a road show, how much gore they can have, what Kirk Ward (who was originally cast as Tallahassee before being replaced by Woody Harrelson) brings to this version of the character, what led them to the 30 - minute format, whether they could have any surprise cameos (Bill Murray made a very memorable one in the film), what will determine whether the pilot is successful enough to go to series, and when they might know if they're picked up.
So just
like Shaun of the Dead,
Zombieland mixes in the perfect combination of splatterfest horror and comedy.
Reese and Wernick wrote «
Zombieland» (2009), which I
liked a lot, and last year's massive smash «Deadpool»; this one's destined for less of a commercial happy ending, I suspect, but it proves they can write in more than one key.
Much
like the characters implied by the title,
Zombieland 2 keeps coming back to life.
In fact, the simplicity that Reese and Wernick have achieved with movies
like «
Zombieland,» «Deadpool» and now «Life» is exhilarating in this day and age of bloated blockbusters.
It doesn't have a strong enough character presence
like «
Zombieland» to carry the story.
First of all Hollingsworth and Heard (from
Zombieland) are 25 and 24 respectively, and do not look
like high school students (a movie pet peeve).
They're inherently terrifying, which lends itself to more serious genre fare, yet we often see them portrayed in horror comedies
like Return of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, and
Zombieland (just to -LSB-...]
Zombieland might not seem
like such a bad pilot if I hadn't seen the movie on which it's based.
Also in the mix is
ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer, but considering elements in his personal life,
like... Oh, you know, having a baby, he might be not be the best equipped currently to handle a project of such scale.
Zombieland (2009) A movie set in a post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland doesn't seem
like a wine - and - chocolate film, but
Zombieland is truly a horror film with heart.

WHY: Christopher Landon's «Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse» desperately wants to be the next great horror / comedy, but while it boasts some great gore effects and inventive kills, the film is disappointingly short on laughs, despite being clearly influenced by cult classics
like «Shaun of the Dead» and «
Zombieland.»
If you love movies
like 28 Days Later and
Zombieland, then I think you'll really enjoy it as well.
The difference between a piece of shit
like this and a genuine classic
like Shaun of the Dead is that Edgar Wright's movie is made with love and intelligence, timing and a surplus of wit, while
Zombieland is tin - eared, poorly - paced, and betrays not one single insight into its characters or its story arc — there's no love here.
Finally, they report that only Jesse Eisenberg has officially re-signed for the film, so until they can get rising stars
like Emma Stone back in the mix,
Zombieland 2 is still a way's away.
Like Eisenberg's previous collaboration with director Ruben Fleischer,
Zombieland, this movie doesn't aim to be more than a fun, gleefully profane comic twist on a genre picture, and the two again succeed in achieving their goal.
The show and movies
like Shaun of the Dead and
Zombieland helped make our undead brethren mainstream and thus zombie comics became the new superhero comics — they were everywhere.
While fans of Ninja Gaiden and Grindhouse films might dig it, not everyone will
like Yaiba's journey through
Zombieland.
