The switchgear is now showing its age, particularly since Audi launched newer models
like the A4 (now offering neat touches
like the Virtual Cockpit display), but at least the
quality is still good and the overall design still works well; Audi kept things commendably simple with the A1 and S1's
cabin.
Merc's
cabin is probably still half a notch behind the Bentley's too - not necessarily in design or technology, because it gets elements
like the S - Class's dual - widescreen set - up and supremely supportive AMG sports seats, but in the finer details, such as odd switch carried over from lesser Mercs, or the
quality of hide or wood.
Overall, the materials throughout the
cabin are all high -
quality, and the new look it got in GM's impressive 2007 redesign still holds up, despite competition from the
likes of the Ford Expedition EL.
If this latest model is to challenge the
likes of the Ford Fiesta ST and Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary for class honours, it'll have to retain the original's sense of fun, but team that with a more sophisticated driving style, better damping, keener steering and a much higher
quality cabin.
Inside, a massive dashboard curves into the
cabin like a big symmetrical wave crested with wood, leather, and brightwork, though surface material
quality is spot - on, easily eclipsing the current 1 / 3/4 / 5/6 Series and the X1 / X3.
Beyond the bits you can see —
like the new, if still subdued design language, with its matrix LED headlights, OLED rear light strip and subtle blisters over each wheelarch, and the fresh new
cabin with a high -
quality and ultra-tasteful feel, the A8's aluminium skin is virtually stretching to accommodate the new autonomous functions, active suspension, mild hybrid tech and a new touchscreen - based cockpit.
An air suspension might conjure up thoughts of pillow - soft ride
quality, but that's not what the Bentayga provides; the ride is relatively firm, and small imperfections
like cracks or bumps are transmitted to the
cabin, making the ride feel busy at times.
I do quite
like the two - door Genesis's interior design, and the build
quality in the
cabin is very good as well, even if there are some cold, hard plastics here and there.
While the old LS was hardly impoverished, subsequent arrivals
like the current Mercedes - Benz S - class have moved the game on for
cabin ambience and
quality.

Land Rover design boss Gerry McGovern's team has a track record of designing increasingly high -
quality cabins, while simplifying the control and switch layouts, whereas Porsche has a more comprehensive, aircraft -
like approach.
Other than these two gripes, there is not much to fault with the Q3's interiors which have excellent
quality of finish and come with some really neat touches
like the fantastic MMI system which is easy to use and the large panoramic roof which gives an airy feel to the already airy
cabin.
Cabin quality looks way up to me, though some might beef that now it's too much
like the Panamera.

Don't get me wrong — the IS boasts Lexus's trademark
quality, with a very quiet, solidly built
cabin (sound deadening is top notch in this car) and premium materials throughout, as well as a good suite of standard features
like LED daytime running lights, power leatherette seats, dual - zone climate control, Bluetooth streaming, push - button start and a seven - inch colour display.
Toyota lavished Lexus -
like quality on the Mirai's
cabin, with soft - touch materials at all the places where people come into contact with interior surfaces.
This car's been around for a while now and, although it never feels poorly built or
like Mercedes has skimped on the

cabin materials, it doesn't feel as special as some other luxury cars out there.
I
liked its stiff - feeling but supple - enough ride
quality, the directness of the steering (though feel could improve) and the spacious and easy feel of the

like it's built to last, and the
cabin upholds Audi's standards for solid build

Audi's almost renowned in the executive car market for producing some of the best interiors in the business, so it's no surprise that we
like the build
quality of the Audi A7's
cabin a lot.
Surprisingly for me, the
cabin quality and quiet, along with massage seats, sufficiently mitigated the road feel, so that after four hours straight behind the wheel of the Continental GT V8 S, I felt
like I'd just been driving an hour or so.
The cohesive design and
quality of materials make the CX - 3's
cabin a pleasant place to be — it really feels
like you're in a premium vehicle.
The 2006 Ford Fusion SEL V - 6 shows some modern technology under the hood and feels
like a
quality car, but it lacks useful or entertaining
cabin gadgets that could lessen the boredom of long commutes.

cabin looks classy, but the build
quality isn't what you'd expect and the screen looks
like an afterthought.
The ride
quality is also very good, with only the sharpest and most sudden of jolts
like expansion joints on the highway being transmitted to an otherwise well isolated
cabin.
Material
quality, for instance, is legitimately good, with most of the main surface areas being fashioned out of soft touch plastics (it's worth pointing out, however, that the materials further down the
cabin do feel
like they're of a noticeably lower grade).
Like the exterior, the
cabin design of the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT is totally different than the sedan, but it offers the same class - leading interior we saw from our review of the Elantra Sedan with surprising materials,
quality and fit and finish.
And,
like other contact points in the
cabin, it's pleasing to interact with and has a nice
quality feel.
There are some obvious things that stood out
like the slightly stiff ride and low
quality of some of the plastics in the
cabin.
I
like, styling, power, handling, control in snow & ice, large
cabin,
quality of construction and trunk space.
If the
cabin quality is reasonable this (in my opinion) looks
like the most cohesive product they've produced in used.
Other materials around the
cabin exuded
quality and care in assembly, and while small details
like the special wood and aluminum trim may be overlooked by some, it added up to a
cabin that's pleasing to spend time in.
The roomy
cabin enjoyed new levels of finish that approached Audi -
like quality.
The MDX's
cabin is meticulously well - constructed with
quality materials, but it lacks the style and luxurious ambience of competitors
like the Lexus RX and Volvo XC60.
However, the WRX STi falls down in terms of
cabin quality — both the BMW M135i and VW Golf R feel
like better built products, and both cost around the same.
Use of premium
quality material inside the
cabin notches up the game for this Volvo, but that is something that we expect from a premium auto maker
like Volvo.
The interior
quality though, is what has really impressed us even more and the
cabin does really look
like it belongs on a more expensive offering.
