That makes them almost
like elastic waist - bands.

like an elastic waist band kind of meal.

elastic waist makes them feel
like they fit, even though the legs are quite big.

elastic waist becomes an empire

like a big line in the sand with flashing red arrows and neon letters screaming BIG BELLY BELOW!
I'm plus sized as well, but always carried the most weight in my hips and thighs, not
waist, so I was able to just go up 1 - 3 regular sizes in regular pants from the stores that I
liked, sometimes using the
elastic hairband trick on my pants at the end of a bloated day until 6 months.
Btw, I've got these new maternity skinny jeans by J Brand, with a super low comfortable
elastic panelled
waist and otherwise the perfect fit
like J Brand's usually are, genius!
Like the knit pull on skirts I talked about earlier, a drawstring (or
elastic waist) skirt is so so easy and therefore usually someones first garment (it was mine!)

Now, I've got a pair of JAG pull - on jeans I
like, and I've been able to find some other pants from Loft and Old Navy that have at least a partial
elastic waist, which I find to be far more comfy, and not at all an issue since I never tuck in a shirt.
Growing up I associated
elastic waists with grandmamas and not necessarily a young, vibrant, fashionable thang much
like myself.
And
like with baby gear, look for other unsafe features that may go unnoticed,
like outerwear drawstrings that might cause a strangulation risk for kids; too - tight
elastic bands on sleeves, legs, or
waists that can restrict baby's circulation; or sleepwear that isn't flame resistant.
