Assuming the next Smash handles story mode boss fights
like The Subspace Emissary did in Brawl, this would also be a wonderful opportunity to take on King Hippo, who is often seen as the primary antagonist — or at least as close to one as you can get — in the Punch - Out!!
(along with other games
like Subspace / Continuum, Geometry Wars, modern MOBAs, etc..)

subspace radio that's going to help you be able to communicate faster than [the] speed of light or something

like just fighting, but
Subspace Emissary gave me something else to do.
They should've made a
Subspace Emissary mode or something
like it in Smash Bros Wii U. That's the main reason I don't play it, I don't have people to play with most of the time and there isn't enough singleplayer-wise to keep me engaged beyond the initial hype I had for it (more characters and stages doesn't really satisfy me, I need a new experience).
To be fair,
Subspace Emissary WAS the most impressive attempt at adding a storyline to a fighter
like Smash that anyone has ever seen, and I honestly wish it had made it into Smash 4.
Subspace Emissary in Brawl was a Kirby
like game mode.
This includes Wart, who hides away in a lair
like the one from 7 - 2, found in jars in
Subspace.
All I'm trying to say is that it looks
like whatever is driving the trends in a GCM can be modeled in a less complex
subspace.
